Say No to Lynas-Rare Earth - We're Killing More People in Inner Mongolia, China while we are using Computer, Phone, Electronics...

Lynas & Pollution, today, we are uniting and fighting with LYNAS. By saying Save Malaysia, Stop Lynas.

It is a very meaningful street peace rally for all Malaysians to stand up and to against the pollution especially when it comes to against to the hazardous industry. Organizing Himpunan Hijau 1.0 and Himpunan Hijau 2.0 were a good start for all us to create the awareness of Malaysians toward the environmental protection.

But, is that anyone knows that by the moment we’re breathing in and out we are actually creating pollution to the earth, it is about our CO2.

Lynas Corp which is the manufacturer for the Rare-earth Elements in Gebeng and yet seems to be closed, soon! Why we need Rare Earth Elements? For you information, Rare Earth Elements are chemical catalysts, automotive catalytic converters, 13%; glass polishing and ceramics, computer monitors, lighting, radar, televisions, and x-ray-intensifying film, electronics and others. It seems like rare-earth elements does contribute a lot to our daily life.

My sharing today is why we only say “Say No to Lynas, Save Malaysia”, BUT why don’t we say that “Say No To Rare Earth Element, Save the China”?

If we notice, we will find the difficult way to survive when we are lack of the supply of rare-earth elements as they are important materials for the manufacture of many electronic devices; Computer Monitor, Phone, Car and others. When we dare to say that “Say No To Lynas, Save Malaysia”, but do we ever think of the people in Inner Mongolia, China? Many people there are exposed to large scale of radioactive elements, being “mutated” for the new born babies, so why don’t we stop purchasing those electronic devices as we believe in No Demand & No Supply! So, now, are we saying to Lynas or we are being selfish?

No, No No, we are not saying with “Say No to Rare Earth, Save China”! We, Malaysians or human are just watching the show on how each of us is trying to put the responsibility of going green/saving the world on the blame on others. Today, we know we are not able to reject the manufacturing of rare-earth elements as it really links us together with our daily’s life (phone & computer screen).

When comes to Rare-earth Elements pollutions, it should not be the way of saying of “Say No To Lynas, Save Malaysia”. In fact, every one of us should start thinking the immediate action should be implemented and what is the role of you, as a Malaysian or global resident to stop polluting the earth. If you say, we support iPhone, Plasma TV, BMW, and others, BUT we just don’t want the Lynas to construct the refinery plant in Gebeng, Kuantan, Malaysia, so are we contra to our willingness or we are really selfish?

I think, as a human, we want the best in life, and we wish to have the most luxury to live for. But, if we really think of the story behind luxuries, and you will find you are actually taking granted from others’ lives just like the people in Inner Mongolia, China. You should know why, and we should feel guilty in our selfishness. To be enjoying with all the electronic devices, we must use rare-earth elements to manufacture these devices & appliances and of course we know the refinement of rare-earth elements could damage the environment.

China has abundant reserves and produces 97% of the global supply of the 17 rare earth minerals. But to cope with growing demand at home and to reduce environmental damage, China has been reducing export quotas of rare-earth elements over the past several years. Such moves have raised alarm in importing nations, especially after some in the industry accused China of holding back rare-earth shipments to Japan due to a flare up in tensions last year. It can see that why Lynas Corp wants to construct the biggest refinery plant in Malaysia, as to supply the rare-earth to the world and to control the price increase in the global market and making the profits.

Chosen in Malaysia, or everywhere in the world, it is no longer important to discuss about when Lynas wants to construct the biggest plant to cope for the demand of rare-earth element’s supply. Or else, all the manufacturing cost of devices, car, chemical, and others will rise up, later. If we choose the place to construct the plant at Australia, US, China, Singapore and other places and the pollution will still be there, the radiation will still be there when we don’t have the proper waste-management. It is not about the location, it is about the sacrifice of environment! Whenever the plant is built, there is still the location and there is still the pollution. Scientists (IAEA) guarantee it is safe for the plant but they are not god to predict the inevitable disaster or accident later. It is now to see which country that wants to sacrifice!

Stop talking about moving back the residue of rare-earth element to Australia, as the Australians want to have the clean environment as well. It is even worse than confining the residue in Malaysia as we might have incident or leak while transporting the residue back to Australia. If then, it will only pollute the South China Sea, Java Sea, Banda Sea and other coverage once the leak incident happen. Please, stop doing this.

Again, please stop talking about the profits or tax supposed to be paid to the Malaysia Government and Australia Government. It is not the important matter to discuss about the profit sharing as we are supposed to concern to the environment and public health. We have no rights to sacrifice our next generation’s lives just because of money!

Stop polluting the environment as “sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”. Once there is development or demand from people, there is still the pollution!

My people, to all Malaysians and to the world, we should accept the mistake we made and pollution that we are creating now. The moment we want something to be developed, there is the pollution no matter how. So, Lynas, you are just an unlucky issue to be brought in Malaysia and you are the scapegoat as well!

Today, we can see the selfishness of human beings, we want luxury but we don’t want the radiation to be close to us. Of course, Lynas must stop the plant in Malaysia but we still need to find the solution to replace the inadequacy of rare-earth element. Anyway, there will not be the ending story of Lynas or rare-earth elements supply when the price of electronic devices increases due to the insufficiency of rare-earth elements!

Remember, we are human; we are mostly selfish to protect our own benefits (health, living quality and national’s environment).

For the meantime, we should say sorry to the people of Inner Mongolia, China! For the meantime, we should understand what is about environment & sustainability. Of course, I really see the selfishness of human beings, today!

With all due respect, everyone does mistake and I do mistake and I pollute the world as well, and if I have said wrong to anyone in what I have said or what I have done, to them I apologise!
